Well , Ever since i watched this movie , i ve wondered why the heck its not there in the IMDB top 250 !! What more ? It even has got a rating of 8.1/10 , where as movies ranked lower have made it to the 250 ! What the F**k i say !! When i went around findin the reason , seems theres some kinda algorithm to make it to the top 250 involvin the Top 1000 voters at IMDB - WHATEVER !!! Anyway comin to the movie itself , its THE Best "Romantic comedy" i ve ever seen !! Well am from the land of Bollywood which churns of hundreds of chunk in the same genre every year !! And am one of those guys reeely bored by the Junk from hollywood in the name of Romantic comedies - often filled with Innuendo dialogues and obscenity !! But then this Korean movie is diff from the entire lot !! The acting , humour , emotions , screenplay , climax , cinematography , the BG score and everything bout the movie were Numero UNO !!! N if u don have anyother reason to watch this movie , watch it atleast for the heroine - he he - Shes damn Cuteeee and hottttt !!! Besides fallin in love wit this movie , u ll fal in love wit her too ! :)

As i finished watchin this new flick "Made of Honour" , i thought to myself that i ve jus watched one of the Worst romantic comedies ever and wasted precious hours dwnloadin this piece of crap !!! Each n everythin in the plot was Soooo predictable !! Moreover it was an "indirect remake" of My Best friends wedding (which i thoroughly enjoyed watchin) !! So Maid of Honour only remided me bout a more worse thing than the movie itself ! - My House "Maid" !! Aiyo ! This woman is in her late sixties !! She has been my house maid for about 15 yrs now and the ony problem now is that SHE WONT QUIT !!! As her age has progressed , her work has degraded day by day ! I was sooo embarassed the other day when she din even notice the "Crow-S**t" on the back of my Shirt and forgot to wash it ! And our house walls have become a museum for cobwebs - thanks to her !! Although my folks have asked her to call it quits and pack her bags n go to her grandchildren - she refuses for some damn reason !!! :( Think the only way to get rid of her is to bring home a Dirt Devil Accucharge - the first everrr cordless vacuum cleaner with Energy Star approval - that means it saves 70% energy when compared to other vacuums in the market !! So its two mangoes in one stone !! 1.Save Energy 2.Get rid of that Damn Maid !!!!

Hi hi hi !!! After a week long gap , am back to the IMDB top 250 !! Like the first 25 , hope i get thru the next 25 too in no time !! :) So coming to the first movie in this section , This FLick is a.k.a " The Daddy of all Adventure thrillers " !! Also its the third Alfred Hitchcock movie in the Top 250.. Although Psycho and Rear window were Suspense thrillers , here in this movie , its less suspense and more of action and adventure and also some KOOL Romance !! :) Although Suspense is Hitchcocks favt genre , he has handled even this adventure thriller pretty smoothly like his other "More famous" movies !!

The movie i watched this weekend was Rob Zombie's Halloween !! Although am not a great fan of the Halloween series ( Cos except the first movie , none of the sequels appealed much to the audience) , i was definitely a fan of Michael Myers !! Although he was nt comparable to Freddy or Jason , he still is one of hollywoods favt bad guy !!! Like in his previous movies , Rob Zombie , has put in lotsa violence and gore into it , But then wat i felt was that the Emotional touch was missing somewhere !!! Althogh the first few scenes were high octane , Zombie left the track somewhere in the middle , and hence it was not as enjoyable as the Original !!!
Ok moving on to what i really came to tell you about here , is about Halloween costume ideas !!

It was a Super Kool weekend !! It was my classmates birthday and we went to the Beach and then to a restaurant for his treat ! On the way back i took home from another friend - Iyer , a 500 GB external hard disk that his SiS had got him from the US on her return to India ! The more important thing id that about 400 GB of that 500 GB was filled with nothing but Movies,Movies and Movies !!! LOL :) But then only some 200 GB was there left on the harddisk of my system.. So had to screen thru those Hundreds of those DVD Rips and chose the ones that were watchable !! Thanks again to IMDB.com for helpin me to chose the best from the lot.. I chose all those with a rating of 7.5 and more , with exceptions to Horror, Thriller and comedy movies , since they are my favt genres !! :)

As i mentioned , This past week i saw a number of movies on World Movies channel !! But the one i loved very much was a Korean Movie - "Christmas in August" !! :) Although it was a korean movie with english subtitles i never needed the Subtitles thru most of the movie !! As i was pretty much involved into it - cos it dealt with a Universal theme - LOVE !! :) It was such a Romantic love story , dealing with a terminally ill man in his last days , falls in love with this Beautiful gal ! And man , goddamn shes pretty !!! Although it had a Tear jerker theme - i never cried for most parts , rather watched the entire movie with a happy little smile on my face ! Such was the handling of emotions in this flick !!
And heres the fun part !!!
Even my dad was watchin the movie for some time and in few mins - he got fed up and told me , "What the heck , theres no Action sequence in this Jackie Chan movie?!!" Lol.. OK look, let me settle something between those who love and hate this film. A lot of people hail this film because it is technically brilliant and ground breaking. Director Orson Welles did a lot of things visually that no one had ever done before. Nearly every film maker was in some way influenced by this movie. This movie also had a great impact in its time. The title character was based on media giant William Randolph Hearst. He was that generations Donald Trump. He opposed this film so much he did everything in its power to stop its release and almost succeeded. Lastly this film contains some of the strongest and most common themes in literature; Life versus death. It is for these reasons why this film is so revered.
On the contrary people who hate this film mainly complain that it is boring. Which is a legitimate complaint. The story is slow compared to today's standards, and there is no real Hearst character alive today in which to relate. So yes, the story on the surface is outdated. However, this does not make it a bad movie. It was not made as a Matrix/Star Wars type of movie which can be enjoyed even at surface level. This is not pure entertainment. Remember there is more to film than storytelling. This film was designed to be cinematically beautiful and to tell a basic story of love and redemption. There is much more to the story than the thinly veiled attack on Hearst, one just needs to look deeper. Look at Shakespeare or Hawthorne for example, their literary works are universally loved. Yet, many people blow them off because they refuse to look past the outdated language into the beautiful prose and simple ubiquitous themes. Just because something is outdated does not mean it lacks worth in today's world.
My advice to those who did not like it the first time or have not seen it yet is simple. Watch it again for what it is. Do not expect to be on the edge of your seat for two hours. Watch it for the cinematography that alone makes this film among the best (I don't agree with AFI's number one ranking but I think it still ranks high). Look deeper into the story and try to connect with it on some level. At the very least appreciate how influential this film was and where the industry would be without it. If you can do this, then maybe some of the naysayers will change their minds. Again, you do not have to love Citizen Kane, but at least respect it for what it is.

I was embarassed wen my dad stumbled upon me watchin that movie durin one of those Ultra-violent scenes (Thank God, Luckily he dint see me watchin those Nude scenes thats spread thrugh out the movie :) So i got some distaste for Mr.Kubricks movies and decided never to watch one again !!
But now as I just saw in IMDB , that this movie of his is rated just "PG" , Thank God , am gonna download it immediately n watch it at last !!! :)

Few say Fight Club is pretty much over rated ! Even i felt the same while watching this movie , until i landed up at the climax !! Man , What a TWIST !! It can only be Challenged by Psycho and the Sixth sense !! Other than the twist at the end , Credit also goes to BRad and Norton for the excellent perfos !! And for most part of it , it never looked like a David Fincher movie - i felt i was watching a Quentin tarantino flick !! :) Thats the sort of violence in this movie and so Kids , pls saty away from it :) !!

One of my favt movies of all time ! And by IMDB's standards its much under rated , cos it deserved a even higher position !! As i told earlier that am even surprised to find it coming only after Rear window !! And the fact that its a great movie is shown from the fact , that its sequels Psycho II and Psycho III and the useless Psycho remake in the late 90's were not even close to creating the effect of the original - This only shows the greatness of one man - Alfred Hitchcock !!!

Hmmm.. Some say its the most over-rated movie in the IMDB top 250 ! Well , i dont agree with it.. Although its inspired from lotta movies as ppl say , i still think its one heck of a masterpiece !! Leave alone the screen play and stuff ! This can be watched solely for the mere performances of its actors especially that of Stephen baldwin , Kevin spacey ,etc to name a few !! N few others say its not worth watchin more than once , since its a suspense thriller.. Bit it aint JUST a suspense thriller , its more than that for sure !!! Even alfred hitchcock would ve been proud of it !!

The first movie of the great trilogy ! When talking about The Return of the king , i said that it was the best of the three, which the Ratings themselves show ! But this does nt stay far behind ! Although this is the movie with the most "Talking" among the three , its the one which sets up the entire platform for a great intermediary and a climax , much like Star wars Episode IV.. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie ( the extended version ) which i even liked more than the normal one !! Am giving the link for the extended version only here !!

When you ask anyone a question " Whats your hobby ?? " , you may expect to get the normal answers such as Stamp collecting,Coin collecting,Reading, music , etc ! But recently i met up with my friend at his home, who like me is on holidays now until we join our companies later next month. I asked him about his hobby , and I did nt expect this answer from him ! He replied " I collect calling cards !!"
I asked him more bout it and he explained ! Calling cards a.ka phone cards can be used t make ISD calls from one country to any other country. Like for example if am posted in US by my company , i can call up my mom in India using india calling cards . And whats with this hobby ? Seems his uncle is a Senior manager of a multinational company and everytime he goes abroad he brings back with him a number of calling cards and gives it to his Nephew , ie my friend ! I was really pulled back by this , coming to know how varied ppl's choices are in choosing hobbies !! :)
Well , Its the second "Wild west - cow boy - Bang-bang" movie on the Top 250 , after "The Good, the bad and the ugly" , again from the same film maker Sergio Leone ! The "fourth" and best of Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy, 'Once Upon A Time In The West' is a sprawling, operatic masterpiece of cinematography. The languid pacing only accentuates the meticulously presented scenes and the Ennio Morricone score is powerful, poignant and haunting. Each major character has his own musical theme. Henry Fonda's character has a menacing and jarring score which chills and thrills me every time I hear it (I bought the soundtrack too!). Fonda as Frank is the "coldest villain in screen history" as I have read in other reviews and was cast against type in this film. When the camera pans up into his passionless blue eyes early in the movie, one sees what a brilliant piece of casting it was to have him as the villain. This movie is a metaphor on the death of The Old West and the final word on how a (spaghetti) Western should be. Not to be missed!

Cidade de Deus better known as City of God , a Portugese movie describes the brutal way of life in suburban Brasil .. A movie that showed what the real situation in the "poor" Brazil is ! ( which until i saw this movie , was a land of Sexy-a$$ gals dancing Samba all night looong :) On the surface, in this context, City of God is a coming of age story of two young people , One character escapes from the "City of God" to lead a better life , while the other succumbs to it and meets its treacheries ! A particular thing that appealed to me , a die-hard Quentin fan was the Chapter format (like in Kill bill,Pulp fiction,etc) that was followed ! Anyway , a Must watch film for Movie - buffs ! The best Non-english Gangster flick ve seen !!

Although I din live in Era of the great Indi Jones trilogy of movies , I was a great fan of the books wen i was at school.. N i saw the Lost ark very recently ( few days before the release of Kingdom of Crystal skull) , N well to be frank , i din find any major difference between the two except that the first was made in a time wen no one knew bout CG and the other in the Ultimate Era of CG ! This jus goes to show the greatness of this movie !! Few scenes ( right from the strt wit the Boulder) made me wonder how on earth did these ppl made it possible !!
Here , i cant stop but to talk bout the latest one in the Indi series - The kingdom of crystal skull.. Well , I still cant understand why ppl , esp Ardent fans of Indi , does nt seem to like it and its IMDB rating are low as hell compared to the first 3.. To me personally , it was a great effort bringin Indi to be known to the younger generation and addin up the CG masala to this Great enterprise ! Well, i ve not seen the other 2 yet,may be if i see them , i may find some diff may be , Who knows :)

Goodfellas , better known as the movie for which Martin Scorcese was robbed of an Oscar ! :) Its the greatest mobster flick ever made ! Interestingly the second greatest according to me , The Departed finallyyyyy won Scorcese his due !! Although the movie does not have a great plot to boast about , its scor's screenplay and direction and the performances by the not-so lead roles , namely Liotta and Pesci that made this movie a classic ( Cos De niro's missin durin most of the movie :) This is one of the movies that i din need to download or rent ! Watched it one sunday afternoon on HBO or star movies , dunno which one :)

Although Psycho was Alfred Hitchcocks Ultimate movie as far as am concerned , it comes to me as a surprise that The Rear window is ahead of Psycho in the IMDB ratings !! The first major surprise in te IMDB top 250 !!!
This movie is a genius work of Alfred Hitchcock , whereby he brings in the audience ourselves as an actor playing a role in the movie , which can be the work of only this genius !! When the actors watch each other in the movie , its actually us who are made to watch those actors watchin the others ! Hard to understand aint it ?? :) Wel , thats wat u get wen u watch the movie deeply ! And another thing that lends solidarity to the movie is James Stewarts marvelous performance !! So do give it a try !

The last of the trilogy comes as the best of the trilogy !! Peter Jackson has created an all-encompassing epic saga of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings books.I've never seen a series like this. A trilogy of movies created with such love and care and utter perfection of craft that you can't help but walk away and wonder how did Peter Jackson make this possible? I have always loved the original "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" series for their epic storytelling, and just for just fitting in as a great moment in cinema. This should be, will be, remembered with as much revered fondness for generations to come. They do not make films like these anymore.
As a stand alone film, it picks up immediately where "Two Towers" ends, so brush up before seeing it. I wanted to make sure everything in this film was done "right". And when it happened, it was. I will need to see this again to enjoy everything on a more casual level.
The cast comes through once more. The musical score retains its beauty, elegance and power. The special effects, notably Gollum again, are nothing less than breathtaking, and simply move the story along. The battles are monumentally huge and exciting. There are some liberties taken with the story, especially during the end with the homecoming, and yet, everything that needed to be covered regarding the main characters was handled. After the greatest moment of the series resolves itself, the story provided a breather. And gives a good-bye to friends seen on screen for the last three years.

It can just be described as a court room drama - or actually - Outside a courtroom drama ! Cos the action takes place only at the end of the jury ! 12 men get together to decide the fate of a young boy who has supposedly murdered his father ! At the beginin 11 outta 12 believe he s the murderer except for 1 person , who by the end , makes all the other 11 to accept that the boy cannot be declared as the murderer ! I ve never ever seen a screen play such as this ! Watch it to know it !!

This is the episode that started it all !! The Star wars enterprise which went on to be the No.1 trilogy of all time , may be next only to the The GodFather trilogy ! This was the movie that took us to teh world of the Skywalkers and Darth vaders ! Its still a puzzle for many on how a movie of this scale was made in the Seventies itself !! Akiro kurosawa , known one of the best film makers in the world has drafted this classic in sucha way that , in the days where there was no special effects , he has made a work of perfection and quality that even a modern film maker wd be proud of for its simple story and complex screen play!! This is one of the must-see movies on any movie buff's list !!! Only thing is the 3 and a half hour length which u can enjoyably sit thru !!
